Welcome to a new week!
Guess what? This is the two-year anniversary of The LIFT! Other than a few weeks I traditionally take off during the holidays, we have gathered here together every Sunday for two years! That makes 98 issues!
Time flies, doesn’t it?

DAY ONE
I just re-read my very first issue of The LIFT published on September 5, 2021. While I have made some minor changes + played with some of the formatting along the way, I have to say, it’s been pretty consistent in terms of content + tone since day one.
I remember being really excited to release that first issue + at the same time, really nervous. Substack was an entirely new platform for me. I had no idea how to use it. And, I wasn’t exactly sure if I could deliver a consistent + uplifting message every week. Or, if anyone would want to hear it.
But, I decided to just get off the dime + do it.
And here we are. Two years later.
ONE DAY
I heard a quote this week: “One day or day one.”
As I read back through that first issue, it was a great reminder to myself. To stay the course. To push through the hard stuff. To keep trying new things. To be brave enough to suck at something new. To keep growing.
It was EXACTLY the message I needed to hear right now + I figured, maybe you do, too.
For most of my life, September was always ‘Back to School’.
Time to learn. Time to grow.
It started with my first day of school + continued on until my daughters finished college.
Even though, there’s no ‘back to school’ to speak of at this stage of life, there is still this habit or urge inside of me at this time of year to gather with others + learn. Try something new. Reconnect with old friends. Make new ones. Set new goals. Stretch myself. Improve.
I am currently working on new projects + formats + platforms. Experimenting with how I can bring my skills + talents to serve others in meaningful ways.
It’s a huge learning curve. Challenging. Overwhelming. Messy.
It’s always scary putting yourself out there + trusting you will figure it out. Eventually.
Sometimes I just want to stick with the safe, easy stuff. Things I know I’m good at.
But, time keeps ticking + life is short! If you wait until you get good at something, it may be too late. Not to mention, you can’t get good at something if you don’t practice.
So, in the spirit of trying new things, I thought it would be fun to revisit that first issue of The LIFT, but in an entirely different format.
Audio. Why not?
Are you game?
There is no better time to try new things than right now.
ARE YOU GROWING OR AGING?
Here we go…The first edition of The LIFT! Revisited. Are you as excited as I am? EEK!
NOTE: If you are reading this via email, it will take you to your browser so you can listen.
If you don’t have sound, you can always just read it. Here’s the link.
YOUR MISSION:
What’s one thing you’ve really wanted to try, but haven’t yet? It can be ANYTHING. I don’t care how ‘silly’ it is. Click that button + leave a comment. Let’s start getting comfortable with putting our ‘crazy’ ideas out there. No one is judging! You just might inspire someone!
IN SUMMARY:
Thanks again for two years of LIFT. I hope it has served you well. I hope you can’t wait to read the next one. I hope you want to share it with 5 of your closest friends. I hope it inspires you to do something different in your life this week.
Most of all, I hope you make this DAY ONE.
See you next week?

One day or day one
I love the story behind the name the lift, I am a new reader to your substack. I totally agree with the wisdom your sharing. I've been stretching my courage muscles the last few years, returning to college to change careers, long distance walking solo. I love being a learner but I still struggle beginning, the self consciousness and awkwardness of not knowing. I'd love to learn to swim and to make a good tart ( pie) crust.
