Welcome to a new week!
And, what a week it’s been! I do not want to ignore the madness of the world. In fact, the whole reason I write this newsletter each week is to uplift because gravity IS real. It’s right there in the tagline of my logo.

THE WEIGHT OF THE WORLD
This week’s message is going to be short + sweet. Because there are no words + sometimes we just need to remind ourselves that gravity IS real.
The pull is real. Heaviness is real.
We can’t pretend we don’t feel it.
We can’t ignore anything that weighs us down.
Heavy hurts. It does.
And there is a lot of hurt in our world.
I thought about that this week while I was doing my heavy lifting at the gym. It’s not easy lifting free weights. Going through the motions to move those weights from one place to another is not a walk in the park. It’s hard. It hurts.
But leaving them sitting on the rack doesn’t do any good. You have to pick them up + see what you can do with them. See if you can use the weight to get stronger.
One thing that always helps me lift something heavy is using my breath. It’s amazing how a deep breath out as you’re lifting can make the weight so much lighter.
And, when I’m at the end of a set + don’t think I can lift one more time, a deep breath in + out will usually get one more rep out of me.
You can ALWAYS lift more than you realize.
LIGHT ON YOUR FEET
Today, while you’re reading this, I’m out on my first training run of the season. My husband + I are training for two half marathons in January. We call this our ‘running season’.
Throughout the year, I run three days a week. But, from now until race day, I’ll be pushing those weekday runs a bit further + most weekends will involve a long run as we push up toward a 13-mile distance.
I always learn so much about myself while training for an endurance event. About being disciplined. Showing up. Staying the course. Trusting the process. Being light on my feet to avoid injury. And, taking good care of myself so I can be fueled + ready.
I’m always amazed at how my body can step up to the occasion. How my breath can get me through the miles. How each week I can run a little further. A little lighter.
You can ALWAYS go further than you realize.
THE PARADOX
You can be heavy + light at the same time.
You can use gravity to lift yourself up. In fact, it’s necessary. You can’t just lift yourself. You need an opposing weight to get the lift.
Life is the same.
Rather than letting the weight crush you, let it lift you. To find a new sense of gratitude or purpose. A deeper love. A vigorous strength. A peace that passes understanding. All of these things are right there in the heaviness.
All you need is a little LIFT.
YOUR MISSION:
This week, I challenge you to do just that. LIFT. Yourself. Someone else. Be the opposing weight. Lift a little more. Run a little further. And, allow yourself to be light (a light) in the process.

Timely and powerful message today! So glad I prioritized this as it’s exactly what I needed to hear!
Best of luck during your running season!
I’m going into a one of my own, even though I won’t be physically running.
Big goals between now and 2024, and the reminder to take deep breaths and stay committed is just perfect.
Thanks, Karen! :))
If we could lift one person to lift another each paying it forward, what a world of kindness we could create! It’s sad that you would even need to write a wake-up article like this! We should already have been “there” lifting each other by now! ❤️❤️ D
